Women's Leadership Series
The Fifth Annual Women's Leadership Program will begin in February 2011 and run through June 2011! After four years of being in Manchester, the program has been expanded to Nashua and Hanover. Join us on Mondays in Nashua or Wednesdays in Hanover!

SERIES ONE - YOUR PASSION, YOUR COMMUNITY
Analyzing Power
In this interactive workshop you will learn how to analyze power in your community or for your issue campaign. During this workshop it will focus on unpacking white privilege concepts while appraising our social and economic relationship to organizations of color. You will leave with a framework of making powerful social justice connections community.
How to Advocate
In a down-to-earth and easily understood manner, this workshop will help us to see that we are all advocates. Advocacy has some basic rules that anyone can follow, and be effective. We will make advocacy understandable and enjoyable and to strategically strengthen our advocacy efforts and give us the tools to birddog candidates and advocate for state legislation.
Managing Great Volunteers
An organization or a movement is nothing without the people and volunteers that are part of it. Building A Great Volunteer Team is crucial to the success. Learn how to recruit, sustain and work with volunteers. Share ideas and brainstorm concrete plans for local collaboration, communication, and action to make sure the you manage volunteers for your advocacy campaign.
Technology for Technophobes
Participants will explore how to create a website and use social networking tools such as facebook for advertising. This workshop will also explore the racial technology divide and its implications for grassroots organizing
Communicating your Message
Learn how to craft a message and how to frame a message the fits your world view and have that message be printed in the local newspaper and posted on the Internet and read by tens of thousands of citizens. Learn the skills and tools needed to get the news media to pick up your issue.
Advocacy Campaign Roundtable
Advocacy Roundtable features a discussion with speakers who have run issue advocacy campaigns. They will discuss the practical issues they faced in their efforts to tap the huge potential. They will also discuss how to network and add the voice people of color to advocacy campaigns.
SERIES TWO - RUNNING FOR OFFICE
Assessing Leadership Opportunities
Interested in running for office, but not sure which opportunity is best for you? This workshop will outline the various elected city and state positions available (and which ones pay a salary!) and the responsibilities of each position. Participants will also have the opportunity to assess their own leadership skills and leadership challenges, and which positions may be best for them.
Communicating Your Message
You know what you stand for, but are you ready to effectively communicate that message to your constituents? Learn how to craft and frame your message for use with various audiences, including potential voters, donors, and reporters. Learn the skills and acquire the tools needed to maneuver television and radio interviews.
Fundraising 101 - It's Not As Scary As It Sounds!
You need money to run for office, but how will you get it? Fundraising is an important, but sometimes overlooked part of any campaign. This workshop will focus on the various ways you can raise money for your campaign. We will also build skills for approaching and successfully soliciting major donors.
Running Voter Outreach Programs
Communicating with voters and getting them out to vote is critical to the success of any campaign. Learn more about the tools necessary for developing your voter outreach and contact plan, how to write effective phone and door scripts, and the importance of data management.
Day in the Life of a State Representative
The State House can sometimes be a confusing maze full of 400 representatives and a lot of policy action! Get an insider's perspective about how the state house works and the daily role of a state representative from a current legislator. Come with your questions!
Lessons Learned Campaign Roundtable
Join women who have run for office before to learn more about their experiences - what they learned, did well, and what they would have done differently. This roundtable exchange will allow participants to ask key questions and elicit non-partisan advice from women who have done it before!
