Back in 2000, New Hampshire Citizens Alliance and the Iowa Citizens Action Network
Education Foundation created MoneyWatch 2000 to bring light to the Presidential election
financing process and for campaign finance reform. We found an old activist kit, and
revamped it to create MoneyWatch 2010, which will look at this year’s election, featuring the
NH General Court and the US Congress.

We need help to do this. You can help us by educating others on campaign finances. On this
page, there will be fact sheets (your “homework”) so you can participate in:

Bird-dogging: The act of asking questions about a specific issue to candidates until they
give you a concrete answer.

House Parties and Education Forums: The act of setting up a group of people to present
this information.

Actions and Theater: The act of pressuring a candidate by wearing costumes or just
holding up signs at an event. Example: In the 2000 election, there was a person in an ATM
suit (who has no affiliation with us) following George W. Bush around.

Writing Letters to the Editor: The act of writing a letter about a specific issue with the
intent to publish it in a newspaper, directed towards its editor.

Calling Campaign Headquarters: The act of calling the headquarters of a candidate’s
campaign to ensure that the campaign knows that the issue is something people care about.
